  13. How to contact us

Purdy's Paving & Landscaping Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. We only ask for the information we genuinely need to answer your enquiry and carry out work for you, and we handle it carefully and lawfully.

This policy applies to the personal information we collect through this website and when you contact us by phone, email or in person. It is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

For the purposes of data protection law, the “data controller” — the business responsible for your information — is:

Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, SS17 9AA
Company No. 12905332 · Registered in England & Wales

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you request a quote, ask a question, or book work, you may give us:

  • Your name
  • Your contact details — phone number and email address
  • Your address or postcode, and details about the property and the work you'd like done
  • Anything else you choose to tell us in your message, by phone or in person

You don't have to give us this information, but we need at least your name and a way to reach you in order to respond to an enquiry or provide a quote.

Information collected automatically

Like almost all websites, our hosting provider may automatically record limited technical information — such as your device's IP address, browser type and the pages you visit — in standard server logs. This is used to keep the site secure and working properly. We do not use this to identify you personally, and we do not run any advertising or analytics tracking on this site.

3. How & why we use your information

We use your information only to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote or estimate
  • Arrange, carry out and complete the work you ask us to do
  • Contact you about your project — for example to confirm details, arrange access or follow up
  • Keep records of the work we've done, invoices and payments
  • Meet our legal and tax obligations
  • Deal with any guarantee, complaint or dispute

We will never sell your information, and we will not use it for marketing without your clear agreement.

4. Our lawful bases for using your information

Data protection law requires us to have a valid reason (a “lawful basis”) for using your information. Ours are:

  • Taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and performing that contract — to quote for and carry out your work.
  • Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, run our business and keep proper records, in a way you would reasonably expect and that doesn't override your rights.
  • Legal obligation — for example keeping accounting and tax records for the period the law requires.
  • Consent — where you have specifically agreed, for example to receive optional updates. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Who we share your information with

We keep your information confidential and only share it where necessary to run our business or where we're required to by law. This may include:

  • Trusted suppliers and subcontractors — where part of your job needs a specialist (for example groundworks or drainage), shared strictly to complete the work.
  • Service providers who help us operate — such as our website host, our email provider, and any form-delivery service we use to receive enquiries from the website (for example splitforms). These providers process information on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
  • Our accountant and professional advisers — for bookkeeping, tax and legal compliance.
  • Authorities or third parties — where we are legally required to disclose information, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

6. Cookies & third-party content

This website does not set its own tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not use analytics that profile you.

However, the site loads a small amount of content from third parties to work and look the way it does, and these providers may receive your IP address or set their own cookies when their content loads:

  • Google Fonts — for the website's typefaces.
  • An embedded Google Map — shown in our “areas we cover” section; Google may set cookies when the map loads.
  • A content delivery network (jsDelivr) — used to load the interactive 3D driveway feature.

These services are provided by their own companies and are governed by their own privacy policies. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; doing so will not stop you using the main features of this site.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep your information only for as long as we genuinely need it:

  • Enquiries that don't lead to work — typically deleted within around 12 months.
  • Customer and job records — kept for the duration of the work and any guarantee period, and for as long as needed afterwards.
  • Financial records (invoices, payments) — kept for at least 6 years, as required by UK tax law.

When we no longer need your information, we securely delete or dispose of it.

8. How we keep your information safe

We take appropriate measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access — including limiting who can see it, using reputable providers for email and hosting, and serving this website securely over HTTPS. While no method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, we work to keep your information protected at all times.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how we use your information (which is the purpose of this policy)
  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Rectification — ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your information where there's no good reason for us to keep it
  • Restrict or object to how we use your information in certain circumstances
  • Data portability — receive your information in a reusable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on your consent

To exercise any of these rights, just contact us using the details below. We'll respond within one month, and we won't charge you in normal circumstances.

10. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first — we'll always try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

11. Children's privacy

Our services are aimed at homeowners and property owners, and this website is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information about children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example if our services or the law change. The latest version will always be published on this page, with the “last updated” date at the top revised accordingly. Please check back occasionally.
